FAB Summer Wellness Party
The Family Advisory Board has been abuzz with activity, organising an event that is all about tranquillity. This is Kar-Man’s first event as FAB’s project coordinator, and she is excited, ‘It’s my baby!’ FAB’s Summer Wellness party is taking place very soon, on September 1st. Hina, Family Group Conference Team Manager, says this is the first of many fantastic events on the FAB horizon. Kar-Man was thinking about all the work the FAB group did for others and realised it was time to look inwards and practice some self-care. Under the guidance of Faye Hamilton, the Camden community is invited to unwind through breathing and affirmation exercises. The day will kick off in the beautiful Calthorp Community Garden, with refreshments available so people can have a drink and a chat. FAB are bringing together professionals and families in this event. They have worked hard over the years, working from the findings of Camden Conversations, to dissolve the barriers between parents and professionals and emphasise humanity in social work contexts. This event will be another opportunity to come together. Pizza and other party food will then be served for lunch before the workshops begin. The aim is for parents and professionals alike to learn valuable skills they can take home. In a miniature oasis surrounded by flowers, participants will learn breathing exercises that can keep them grounded. The community garden also has plenty of activities for all ages, including table tennis and football facilities that younger attendees can play while their parents relax. As FAB goes from strength to strength, helping change the service and benefit the Camden community, it is easy to forget about themselves. It feels good to be doing something for themselves while still doing what they do best, empowering others. Everyone is welcome.
